COVID-19 and MBA admissions for international applicants
Potential risks
- Travel and visa restrictions preventing you from physically being on campus
- Online classes mean subpar experience in terms of networking, social connections
- Physical and mental health risks, and potential difficulty in navigating a foreign medical system
- Possibility of long-term separation from family
- Uncertainty in future internships, recruitment
Potential advantages
- Schools may be more generous in granting admissions with borderline scores, especially if you have a special visa or residency situation
- More generous scholarships and financial aid
- Online experience won’t matter compared to the long-term advantage of brand
- Sit out recession, rejoin recovering economy
What to do now
- Study for GRE/GMAT — some schools are waiving tests, but may require score at later date.
- Change your lifestyle if needed. Quit smoking, figure out a mental health fitness program.
